Some of you might have heard about or seen the new makeup line by Thierry Mugler. France-based Thierry Mugler Parfums has signed a licensing agreement with crystal specialist Swarovski to create a beauty line - a move that aims to bring about premium positioning through the incorporation of quality packaging.

Known as Swarovski Beauty, the line will include fragrances, make-up and a beauty accessories collection that will incorporate the fragrance, cosmetic and packaging design capabilities of Clarins-owned Thierry Mugler with the precision-cut crystal expertise that Austrian-based Swarovski is renowned for.

With a launch date planned for 2010, the two companies will work together to develop the high-end beauty products that will incorporate Swarovski’s crystal expertise into the packaging design.

Keira Knightley is Coco Mademoiselle

{Comments 0}

The outspoken Keira Knightley is the new face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume by Chanel. Chanel went all out for this campaign, shooting a mini-movie called “Coco Mademoiselle” which stars Keira as a modern version of Coco Chanel herself. She is supposed to be mysterious, independent and strong.
The campaign was inspired by the apartment of Coco Chanel. The website’s winning conceit is to take the viewer on a tour of its sumptuous rooms, moving from salon to salon, stopping along the way to zoom in on odd details that give clues to the unique sensibility of the iconic designer - baroque mirrors, precious “objets” and gilded “tchotchkes” at every turn.

FLorian, Les fleurs du mal

{Comments 0}

“Les Fleurs du Mal” Florian Ladstätter’s latest collection will make its debut in the windows of Parisian boutique Colette on March 4. This special collection ranges from one-off experimental pieces of jewellery to surreal domestic objects.

As part of a still-life installation it will include bespoke crystal mirrors, designed in collaboration with legendary Viennese glasswear company J. & L. Lobmeyer and cut to resemble ornate orchids – the collection’s central motif and inspiration.

A limited edition catalogue has specially been conceived to accompany the launch. A foreword by social anthropologist Ted Polhemus debates the triggers of desire and decoration of the human body in the context of Florian’s work, while Penny Martin (SHOWstudio’s editor-in-chief) gets to the root of Florian’s motivation and inspirations. Photographers Danilo Giuliani and Bernd Preiml have realised a series of challenging and stunning images which present entirely novel interpretations of Florian’s work.

getConfused has conceived a special website for this collection: www.florian-design.com.

At last, but by no means least, Vienna’s Mak Museum (which will host an exhibition by Florian at a later date) has provided invaluable financial assistance enabling the catalogue to be produced to the highest standards. To them, and all those who have supported Florian, all that remains to be said is a heartfelt thank you for nurturing his vision and allowing it to flourish beyond his wildest dreams.

Showroom: March 2nd to March 8th - 37 rue de Montpensier, 75001 Paris (Artcore Gallery )
