Photographer-cum-provocateur David LaChapelle just launched his latest exhibit, American Jesus, at Chelsea’s Paul Kasmin Gallery. LaChapelle has been pushing the envelope with a vast line of artists, media personas, and diplomats leaving their trust in his controversial hands. His American Jesus is none other than pop culture’s most tragic martyr, longtime friend and holy prince of pop Michael Jackson interpreted with the LaChapelle fantasy -cartoonish fingerprint on it.
Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea until September 18th.

For the lingerie brand Princesse Tam-Tam, autumn-winter 2009/10 will be fresh and cheerful. To photograph its collection, Princesse Tam-Tam has called on fashion photographer Solve Sundsbo.
A Norwegian photographer accustomed to fashion magazines, Solve Sundsbo has brought a breath of fresh air to the winter collections of the lingerie label. The theme is ‘Warhol me!’, which highlights colour and the customization of the range.
Taken in wide angle, the images play with the natural and the sophisticated with models who appear to be frozen in their scene. Otherwise features are left to speak for themselves: bright colours, surprising leopard prints and lace.

The Norwegian photographer, who has shot ads for Yves Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana and fashion features for Harper’s Bazaar and W, has paired with the creative studio-clothing label Surface to Air on a line of silk tops, dresses and oversize satchels, printed with three of his works.
Surface to Air X Solve Sundsbo bag, $200 at surface2airparis.com. Other pieces from the collection available at Barneys New York.“We were looking for images that could create surprising pieces,” said Aldric Speer, Surface to Air’s brand designer. Certainly nothing gives punch to an amorphous sac quite like Mr. Sundsbo’s film still of a scarlet macaw in midflight. source : the New york times

Miles Aldridge’s pictures describe a surprisingly glossy and electromagnetic pulsating world, full of smooth, illuminated models and venomous LSD colour tones. With his phosphorescent compositions and mystical situations, he balances between contemporary and figurative photography.

Dazed presents Selfish – a unique proposition dreamed up by Rankin’s assistants based upon featured photographer Damien Fry’s simple premise that “people are all ultimately selfish”. As such, it explores the power dynamic between the photographer and their subject. “The photographer is the director and the executioner,” explains Fry. “In a society where we are all driven to be more selfish and want more, we are the people who show you visually what you are supposed to want, and how you can go about getting it.”
All of the work exhibited will riff on this theme, with each photographer annexing their own allocated area of the gallery for whatever purpose they desire. We can’t really give away any more than that, as they’re all keeping their ideas very close to their chests – which is pretty selfish…

Norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø is currently showing some of his works at colette in Paris. He is making his solo debut in the French capital of Maggazine like Numéro and at one of the world’s most famous shopping destinations, colette. Sundsbo’s work for this solo exhibition features vivid photographs of feathers that pop against the backgrounds of the images, as well as short films that are showing throughout colette. He says they’re the blend of a lifelong love of nature documentaries and his later work in fashion: “Birds have a sartorial quality which, in a sense, is a pure form of fashion.”

Exhibition @ Colette paris until the 27 of September
