Anna Vince – New Collection – AW08 Collection

Inspired by the intricate lacquered boxed so integral to Japanese design Anna Vince has created ‘Kyoto 54′ – a collection of leather accessories that marry heritage with innovative design resulting in must-have pieces that are both stylish and covetable.

On delicate belts and precision cut clutches details taken from Japan’s oldest artforms create textures and silhouettes to delight the eye and excite the touch. Origami pleating and folds ripple across patent surfaces whilst Japanese knotting and quilting add depth to crackled and burnished metallic leather. In a sensual palette of glossy blacks, lusciously dark berry red, gleaming bronze and hard-as-nails graphite. This season also sees the introduction of larger totes bags and shoulder bags.

FLorian, Les fleurs du mal

“Les Fleurs du Mal” Florian Ladstätter’s latest collection will make its debut in the windows of Parisian boutique Colette on March 4. This special collection ranges from one-off experimental pieces of jewellery to surreal domestic objects.

As part of a still-life installation it will include bespoke crystal mirrors, designed in collaboration with legendary Viennese glasswear company J. & L. Lobmeyer and cut to resemble ornate orchids – the collection’s central motif and inspiration.

A limited edition catalogue has specially been conceived to accompany the launch. A foreword by social anthropologist Ted Polhemus debates the triggers of desire and decoration of the human body in the context of Florian’s work, while Penny Martin (SHOWstudio’s editor-in-chief) gets to the root of Florian’s motivation and inspirations. Photographers Danilo Giuliani and Bernd Preiml have realised a series of challenging and stunning images which present entirely novel interpretations of Florian’s work.

getConfused has conceived a special website for this collection: www.florian-design.com.

At last, but by no means least, Vienna’s Mak Museum (which will host an exhibition by Florian at a later date) has provided invaluable financial assistance enabling the catalogue to be produced to the highest standards. To them, and all those who have supported Florian, all that remains to be said is a heartfelt thank you for nurturing his vision and allowing it to flourish beyond his wildest dreams.

Showroom: March 2nd to March 8th – 37 rue de Montpensier, 75001 Paris (Artcore Gallery )
