Sometimes words can’t describe what Sandra Backlund can do with a knit. We are constantly amazed by her innovative and modern approach to a medium that is otherwise resigned to the ‘more mature’ generation. Each piece in the collection is improvised; rather than being based on patterns Sandra designs as she knits. What we most enjoy is that despite her success since the label’s inception in 2004 (note: a collaboration with Louis Vuitton for Fall 2007/08), there is still that bespoke stamp to each piece.
November sees the launch of the first offering of an ongoing collaboration between Acne and Lanvin. Juxtaposing the femininity of Lanvin’s couture legacy with the rough and masculine work wear aesthetic that has inspired Acne for a decade, this collection is set to appeal to girls and boys about town of all ages. Made entirely of denim, only the finest Italian and Japanese fabrics have been used in a collection that sets out to be classic yet sharp. To maintain their intense shade of indigo the fabrics have been given minimal treatment, resulting in dresses, pants, suits, coats, jewellery, shoes and bags in a multitude of blue hues.
The Acne/Lanvin collection will be available at Lanvin, Acne Studio and at www.acnestudios.com.
Lanvin will collaborate with Acne Jeans to produce a Lanvin diffusion line of jeans for next year. Elbaz’s attention to intricate details and all things luxurious, he could possibly take denim to a whole new level with his line for Acne
Needless to introduce JUSTICE who are definitely one of the coolest and most creative bands in the world these days.
From the time when we directed the award winning video for “We are your feinds”, JUSTICE and SURFACE TO AIR have indeed become good friends, sharing a lot of common views on creativity and style.
Gaspard and Xavier’s (JUSTICE ) love for leather jackets has almost become their trademark. It recently brought them to the design table of our Paris studio. Tohether, we designed X & G’s dream leather jackets.
The result : a limited edition series of 3 jackets (150 pieces) and 2 jeans, conceived and designed by JUSTICE for Surface To Air.
The distribution of the line is also very exclusive as Gaspard and Xavier wanted it to be.
The line will be available in 20 of the most important shops in the world from mid-June 2008
