MYTHOLOGY
Straight from the myths and legends of ancient Greece comes ‘’Mythology’’ – the stunning new AW2010 accessories collection from Forget-Me-Not. Inspired by characters whose tales of heroism, romance and
mystery have captured mankind’s imagination across the centuries, designer Coco’s digitally printed, 100% silk scarves and turbans depict scenes straight from the well-loved fantasies of times gone by. Here we see the winged horse Pegasus take flight, whilst the sea goddess Calypso, the god of sleep, Morpheus and the snow nymph, Chione, weave their magic spells on the mortals they treat as mere play things.
As always, the Forget–Me-Not muses appear in the form of delicate female characters depicted in dream-like scenarios. Fine featured and full of mischief, these sylphs are surrounded by winged creatures and fantastical beings including horned beetles, ornate shells and regal birds of prey. Twisted ropes of pearls are entwined through elegant turbans whilst Coco’s unique geometrical abstractions beckon you on a strange journey through her imagination. In a palette of ocean blues, dusty pinks, rich greys and midnight black, each scarf design comes in three colour ways, on which brighter hues are set off against a backdrop of neutral tones to give each composition a beguiling sense of depth. Moreover, with every design meticulously rendered by hand, this latest collection in the highly successful Forget-Me-Not series serves as a covetable extension of designer Coco’s work as a sought after fashion illustrator.

Fleet Ylia is a taboo-breaking accessories label which brings together the skill of classical training with the imagination and artistic vision of its founder, Ilya’s pieces range from corset-like hardness and waist clinchers to extravagant masks and head pieces. The creations for both men and women are encompassed by three lines: classic, concept and restraint. The concept line is a space for Fleet Ilya to experiment with the bazaar while mainting an artistic vision. With an eye towards the unseen, Fleet Ilya’s concept pieces are couture accessories. The restraint line has roots in the fantastical elements of the imagination, Flett Ilya’s restraint line is simply the epitome of luxury bondage.

Fleet Ilya continues to explore the relationship between organic forms and constructivist design principles with his Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. It is a succinct collection of twelve unique styles, which consists of a selection of three cuffs, four belts, three shoulder bags, a day/overnight bag, and an evening clutch. Each item serves as an exemplary study of compositional form, craftsmanship and utility. Ilya’s use of thicker, durable leather and large brass hardware alludes to his traditional training as a saddler in Coventry, and gives the collection a strong sculptural appeal. The entire collection is made from black calfskin and suede, with the contrast in textures adding an additional layer of depth to these unique designs.

* The very special collection entitled « Nothing to lose, Crocodile! » will be available at Colette from March 1st to April 3rd, 2010
The whole jewelry wardrobe of a true bejeweled woman is made in a whole crocodile skin : loops, circles, squares are cut up with shape cutters to build necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The remaining skin shape is the ultimate jewelry piece to wear around the neck or to hang up to the wall as a «wall jewelry». Pink or emerald crocodile pieces enhanced with cream pearls beads and coppered metal elements questions the «tape-à-l’oeil» concept of luxury designs.

“Wonderland” is the perfect fantasy for the SS 10 season. Inspiration flows from the pages of Lewis Carol’s Alice in Wonderland, from the exquisite illustrations of John Tenniel depicting the fantastical world beyond the rabbit hole, and is recast in a modern light as a collection of digitally printed silk scarves. Each design has been meticulously rendered by hand, and serves as an extension of Coco’s work as a highly coveted fashion illustrator.

The muse finds herself transported in ink into three distinct fantasy worlds, which serve as stages of what must surely be a most marvelous adventure. In one instant she sits amongst an explosion of oversized lilies and musical notes, which swirl around bending bars of sound. In another she stands holding a deck of cards, seemingly beckoning us past a grouping of feathers and flamingos to take a closer look.
The third is a boudoir abstraction of whirling timepieces, mechanisms, and upholstery finishings.
Strong geometric shapes and backgrounds serve as a counterpoint to elegant drawings and swirling realities, giving the sublimely feminine illustrations a stronger, modern appeal. Each scarf design comes in 3 colour ways, in which brighter and more neutral tones are carefully considered and utilized expertly to give each composition a unique appeal.
