To mark the launch of Fashion Jewellery: Catwalk and Couture, author Maia Adams will be signing copies of her new book at Colette during Paris Fashion Week. To accompany this event, there will be an exhibition of one-off jewellery pieces specially created for Colette by the jewellers featured in the book.

Colette will be the exclusive stockists of Fashion Jewellery: Catwalk and Couture until the book’s international release on March 22nd. This event is therefore an opportunity to see and own it before anyone else!

As the first book to explore this exciting field, Fashion Jewellery: Catwalk and Couture contains in-depth profiles of 33 international jewellers, as well as details of their collaborations with leading fashion designers including Comme des Garçons, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen.

Packed with original interviews, the book also features specially commissioned photos and never-seen-before sketches from the likes of Jordan Askill, Alexis Bittar, Erickson Beamon, Judy Blame, Bless, Lara Bohinc, Natalia Brilli, Delfina Delttrez, Florian, Husam el Odeh and Scott Wilson to name a few…

Fashion Jewellery: Catwalk and Couture by Maia Adams

Fashion jewellery is created with the catwalk and couture in mind, characterized by its creativity and originality. It is arguably the most exciting field in fashion today. Arranged by designer, this is the first book to showcase contemporary catwalk and couture jewellery, profiling 33 international fashion jewellers who combine traditional techniques and ultra-modern methods to create this new style of jewellery. Among the stunning images of work shown are collaborations with leading fashion designers and brands such as Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Comme des Garçons, as well as collections for directional fashion stores such as Colette and 10 Corso Como.

Since graduating from Central Saint Martins, freelance writer and editor Maia Adams has contributed fashion and lifestyle articles to publications including British Vogue, Elle, The Guardian, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine and Wallpaper*. Based in London, Maia is also a visiting lecturer on the fashion degree courses at Barcelona’s Design Institute and the University of the Creative Arts in the UK.

After collaborating with several brands in Europe such as Rue du Mail and Blumarine, Yazbukey have been working this season alongside fashion darling Zac Posen, designing a line of jewellery accessories in their trademark plexiglass pop style. Super cute display of Yasmine Rizvi at White Showroom in Milano. She is presenting her work as well as her collaboration with the Forget me not scarves (from illustrator Coco) for whom she realises all the head pieces and turbans.

Borba Margo is derived from the combined names and efforts of Anderson Borba and Jessika Margo Goransson.  And while, like any collaboration, their work represents a meeting ground of two individuated aesthetics and backgrounds, the synthesis is anything but a compromise.
Their design approach is highly intellectual, with a tendency toward the avant-garde.  They often play with proportion and utility in surprising and surreal ways, as to subvert with the surety of our expectations, while suggesting new ways of approaching objects.  This could be anything from a handbag with a giant safety pin handle, a belt with an excess of buckles, or a bag that zips up into a square.
And while Borba Margo’s creations always confound the general banality of women’s accessories, they do so with a skill and maturity that makes them highly covetable designer items.  The result of their material explorations always yields accessories that are supremely sleek, bold, sexy, and original.

Inspired by the intricate lacquered boxed so integral to Japanese design Anna Vince has created ‘Kyoto 54′ – a collection of leather accessories that marry heritage with innovative design resulting in must-have pieces that are both stylish and covetable.

On delicate belts and precision cut clutches details taken from Japan’s oldest artforms create textures and silhouettes to delight the eye and excite the touch. Origami pleating and folds ripple across patent surfaces whilst Japanese knotting and quilting add depth to crackled and burnished metallic leather.
