Last night 65th edition of the Cannes Festival opened with Wes Anderson latest feature, “Moonrise Kingdom”.

The Ceremony was hosted by Argentine-French actress Berenice Bejo, whose international fame exploded thanks to her role as Peppy Miller in last year’s Palme d’Or and Oscar winner The Artist.

Berenice Bejo and this year’s jury: the president Nanni Moretti, winner of the Palme d’Or in 2001, Diane Kruger, Ewan McGregor and Jean Paul Gaultier. The jury also includes Hiam Abbas, Andrea Arnold, Raoul Peck, Emmanuelle Devos and Alexander Payne.

Nanni Moretti : ” This is for me a great honor, great privilege and great responsibility to be the president of the jury of the biggest film festival in the world”

Beth Ditto singing “A Candle in the Wind” originally written by Elton John dedicated to Marylin Monroe, to whom this year’s edition of the Festival is paying tribute 50 years after her passing away. Beth Ditto did a great performance with a lot of energy and a tongue in cheek exit !

Wes Anderson officially opening this year’s festival surrounded by the “Moonrise Kingdom” cast.

French actress Frederique Bel confiding her thoughts to Frederic Fontan after the ceremony : “The opening ceremony is always a pure dream and stressful at the same time (…) As for climbing those famous stairs I try to do it several times, because the first night it’s a challenge, you tend to climb them too quickly ! It is an amazing moment to live though! ”

Antimonide is going to Cannes as the festival begins tomorrow. We will stay there until the end of the weekend, enough days to tweet, report and share from the red carpet and exclusive parties !

The Festival de Cannes is the most revered film festival, it has revealed many of the film industry luminaries, and it’s highest prize, La Palme d’Or has been awarded to some iconic films such as La Dolce Vita, Paris Texas, or Pulp Fiction to name just a few.

We are also very excited to try Sony’s latest digital voice recorder, the ultra slim and sleek ICD-TX50, which we will be using to interview the various personalities attending the festival this year. An incredible tool for reporters, journalists and bloggers attending this year’s most glamourous event!

In the meantime we leave you with the beautiful visual featuring Marylin Monroe celebrating Cannes 65th edition…

As the sun shone down on the palatial gardens, Karl assembled a collection dusted with regal opulence and 21st century fairytale frivolity.

Peter Philips created this look for the CHANEL Cruise 2013 Show (check it out here). The cherry tones remind me of the look we saw from Anna Sui for Spring 2012, with a high blushed cheek blended into a saturated eye. This look is much more intense in the eyes, however played down in the natural-looking lips. Two products in the look will be coming in December 2012 in the “Versailles de CHANEL” collection. CHANEL also created these cute little black velvet logos to stick on the cheeks of the models.

Adding a touch of Parisian chic to one of London’s finest artistic establishments, French fashion house Hermès lands at number 6 Burlington Gardens with ‘Leather Forever.’

This May, you can find out exactly what makes the precious Hermès Birkin bag worth their pretty pennies, without spending them yourself! Starting out as a brand specialising in exquisite equestrian equipment, founded by a French gentleman named Thierry Hermès, the luxury power fashion house is now celebrating its 175th birthday. In a grand celebratory toast, the Royal Academy of Art are launching an expansive Hermès exhibition entitled ‘Leather Forever’, detailing the Hermès journey through form and fabric, from tough to handle calfskin, niloticus crocodile and ring lizard to perfectly seamed, absolutely iconic bags. For what would a Hermès exhibition be without its IT bags? On display are variations of the timeless Kelly and Birkin and even whimsical Pegasus satchels to long for.

In addition, Hermès have created four exclusive ‘Passe-Guide’ handbags which each have their own unique identity, inspired by the UK and Ireland. Perfect compact size, the bags embody the brand’s original equestrian vision and will be auctioned online by Christie’s. In a final good deed, all proceeds will be donated to the Royal Academy of Arts charity.

Leather Forever runs at The Royal Academy of Art from 8th — 27th May 2012.

The story begins in 1995, when Bernadette Chirac, then First Lady of France, presented Diana, Princess of Wales, with the latest creation from the house of Dior: a handbag. And so the Lady Dior was born.

In 2011, a debut exhibition organized in Shanghai gave carte blanche to international photographers and artists to provide their own take on the bag. The show contained some fifty pieces. Next, it was Beijing’s turn. Today, Lady Dior As Seen By is crossing the East China Sea to land in Tokyo, in time for the reopening of the Dior store in the city’s Ginza district.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from April 22 to May 20, in a location a stone’s throw away from the new, completely revamped spaces.

The artists Nan Goldin, Arnaud Pyvka, Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, our favourites Tim Gutt & Shona Heath, Koichiro Doi and many others, set it a story and photographed it. Others, such as Liu Jianhua, Olympia Scarry, Kohei Nawa, Daniel Arsham,…, have treated it as sculpture. And on the lower floor of the exhibition space, is the series of films in which the bag shares top billing with French actress Marion Cotillard in front of the cameras of David Lynch, Olivier Dahan, John Cameron Mitchell and Annie Leibovitz. The new show boasts over one-third more pieces than the original.

Another room is given over to the history of the bag and the house, with archival imagery projected on a screen whose round form alludes to the charms that hang from the handbag’s handles: the O of diOr.

After that show wraps, the Lady Dior As Seen By exhibition will forge ahead on its global tour. To be continued…

Get your hands on the latest issue of British Vogue, it is set to be a collector!
The June 2012 edition of the magazine is dedicated to the Olympics set to take place in London later this summer. The cover featuring Kate Moss shot by Mert & Marcus is beautiful indeed but what really caught our hearts is the beautiful story by the creative partnership of Tim Gutt and Shona Heath. The story is a Wedgwood coloured paper celebration of some of the sport categories, featuring up and coming Brit model Lara Mullen, complimented by a lovely styling by editor Charlotte Pilcher.
We want more !
