I heart THE BODYLINE

Presented during the Fall-Winter fashion week in London then Paris, THE BODYLINE, is an exclusive collection of bodysuits. Luxurious materials such as silk, cashmere combined with a modernist design are what makes those bodysuits so desirable. Those garments are embracing, enhancing the female shape thanks to a very appealing graphic structure, this season inspired by photographer and muse Lee Miller.
Whether seen as a long awaited basic or a statement piece for the forthcoming seasons those bodysuits answer our grandest fashion desire! Watch this space.

“Until now there has been no existing line of bodysuits that move beyond the most basic form or apply modern fashion sensibility to their design. BODYLINE has redefined the bodysuit through a new approach to its aesthetic and function by employing angular cuts that focus on the creation of graphic yet feminine body shapes. BODYLINE combines modernist design with the use of classic Italian and British fabrics to create unique pieces that can be considered as both statement piece or an essential basic.
BODYLINE is a brand that exists to redefine the bodysuit through a new approach to its aesthetic and function. Using angular cuts that focus on the creation of graphic yet feminine body shapes, the bodyline offers a reinvented contemporary bodysuit. The focus is on coupling modern design and technology with classic fabrics such as cashmere, silks and cottons in order to create unique garments that can be considered as both statement piece or an essential basic.

The Collection A/W 10-11 Duality
The first collection will feature 16 different Bodysuits inspired by photographer and muse Lee Miller. It is the duality of modern women embodied by Lee Miller that sets the tone for this collection. Duality in the form of opposing yet co-existing ideas that translate from life to garment; Sophisticated and comfortable, Seductive and Assertive, Modern and Timeless.
BODYLINE bodysuits redefine and reshape the female body using geometric and linear tailoring to enhance and accentuate women’s natural shapes. In particular emphasizing and creating the optical illusion of smaller waistlines, longer more slender bodies by adding structure and shape to the bodysuit, through the use of shoulder pads, revealing cuts and the use of transparencies. The linear cuts, low backs connote seduction, whilst the embellishment, sleeve details and use of crystals ensure the element of sophistication.

Countervailing the bold designs is the subdued colour palette, an elegant selection of indigo blue, grey, caramel and black. A colour range perfectly suited for integration into any winter wardrobe. The fabrics are imported from Italy and the UK and are chosen specifically for their tactile quality in order to add a dimension of comfort to the bodysuit so that it becomes a second skin. This seasons bottom has a 1950s style cut for comfort and double length clips to cater to different body lengths. The range introduces the signature BODYLINE sleeve that stops midway at the elbow line to lengthen the arm, as well as more traditional sleeveless and long sleeved pieces.
BODYLINE retails between £90 and £300. Future collections will feature guest collaborations to develop special limited editions.

The Creation of Bodyline
The BODYLINE was created in 2009 by London based stylist Raquel Franco and established Barcelona designer Laura Figueras.
Raquel Franco has worked internationally as a fashion stylist since 2004, regularly working with high profile fashion stylists and editors for magazines such as The Gentlewoman, Fantastic Man, Vogue, V magazine, i-D, showstudio.com and Numero. Her styling research led her to discover that there were no existing lines of bodysuits that moved beyond basic forms or applied modern fashion sensibility to their design. Raquel and Laura recognized in one other a shared passion, the bodysuit as it was a recurring signature piece in Laura’s “Bambi by Laura” collections. As well as having established her own label, Laura Figueras has also collaborated on special projects and designed for Top Shop, Roxy Heart, and Absolut Label. Her work has been featured in editorial shoots for magazines such as W, Purple and I-D.”

Video Style

During the last Paris fashion week F/W 2010 (from March, 3rd to March, 10th 2010) we went to meet fashion addicts outside shows and we asked them what was their general style, how they had made up their outfit of the day and what was the key element of they look.
We gathered the most popular look of the moment on one video; do mind a trend for Sarwels and coloured shoes.
And, on another video, students who were already making up their own personnal and very interesting style.
