Fleur Défendue

Lolita Lempicka’s Fleur Défendue (Forbidden Flower) is the latest flanker to the original Lolita Lempicka fragrance. Like the another perfumes of Lolita Lempicka, it was developed by perfumer Annick Menardo.
“Forbidden Flower Eau de Parfum leads you, from the marvellous world of the first fragrance, to new and higher realms of desire, revealing a blooming femininity and a new olfactory emotion.
In a deliciously mysterious garden, the sensual flowers flourish beautifully before our eyes, yet remain untouchable. They are energetically stunning, extraordinarily fresh and dangerously voluptuous. These flowers will awaken and blossom with a simple touch of sun or the hint of desire.
Created in the heart of this garden of voluptuous delights, Forbidden Flower Eau de Parfum has chosen nature as its beautiful setting. This forbidden flower, whose appearance is its only innocent aspect, is misleadingly angelic and while sending the senses reeling …”

Crazyssimo by Andrea Cammarosano

In June 2008, for the first time, the Fashion Museum will be presenting its MoMu Award to an MA student at the fashion department of the Royal Academy in Antwerp. Every year from now on, this award will give a single student the opportunity to present his or her collection in an exhibition at the well respected MoMu, Antwerp’s Fashion Museum.

The 2008 MoMu Award has been given to Andrea Cammarosano, whose collections for the third Bachelor level and the first Master level are displayed in his exhibition, CRAZYSSIMO.COM.

Inspired by evolution, Andrea Cammarosano refers to his collections as serenades: “Serenada por Neanderthal” and – declarations of love for the incredible creativity of nature and mankind’s inexhaustible power of imagination.

Cammarosano’s Mendeljev Periodic Table

Inspired by the structure of the Mendeljev Periodic Table, which arranges all the elements based on chemical and physical characteristics, Andrea Cammarosano has paid an inimitable tribute to metamorphosis and the potential to create.

In the same way that a blank sheet of paper can change into a drawing, simply with the help of pencils and our own inspiration, so too can our potential to explore be endless and unbounded…

“Of course, you must have thought many times,
‘How happy a chance we have had, to evolve from primordial species
into the gorgeous kinds of babes that we are today.’
Things are not that simple, however.
In nature, many different patterns led the various beings to crazy
behaviour, be they animated creatures or just silly minerals…
… but wait a minute, did I just say silly?!
Well, this is our planet, and many interesting things happen down here.
So no wonder it is such a CRAZYISSIMO place!”

Hawaii meets the Hamptons.

lanvin-hawaii-collection.jpg

Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz glanced back to a Thirties glamour girl while injecting whimsy with fun embroideries and glitzy costume baubles. “It’s about the original idea of cruise, a fantasy vacation,” Elbaz said. One example: the playful cotton T-shirt and silk skirt combo shown here.

Chez Lanvin, it’s Hawaii meets the Hamptons. Well, sort of. Alber Elbaz described his cruise collection as a Frenchified take on American sportswear, with plenty of that South Fork easy allure. “But twisted Hamptons,” he noted while tucking into a bowl of sorbet to the helium strains of Dolly Parton at his Paris studio on Saturday. Shapes are light and languid, not to mention a bit Thirties with an emphasis on a new elongated silhouette for the house. Case in point: his polkadot silk gazar column gown worthy of a latter-day siren à la Jean Harlow. Add to that the designer’s cheekily embroidered T-shirt matched with a formal floor-length silk skirt and his “jogging suit for the woman who doesn’t jog” cut in sexy black silk and you get the rest of the season’s message: carefree glamour.

But, oh, the accessories: it’s “Aloha, Alber” with exotic and flamboyant — or, in his words, “screaming” — embellishments spicing up the collection. Especially notable are his versions of a luxury lei: glitzy garlands made from iridescent flowers strung on fake pearl necklaces. source wwd.com

Lanvin and Acne jeans

Lanvin will collaborate with Acne Jeans to produce a Lanvin diffusion line of jeans for next year. Elbaz’s attention to intricate details and all things luxurious, he could possibly take denim to a whole new level with his line for Acne

Anna Vince – New Collection – AW08 Collection

Inspired by the intricate lacquered boxed so integral to Japanese design Anna Vince has created ‘Kyoto 54′ – a collection of leather accessories that marry heritage with innovative design resulting in must-have pieces that are both stylish and covetable.

On delicate belts and precision cut clutches details taken from Japan’s oldest artforms create textures and silhouettes to delight the eye and excite the touch. Origami pleating and folds ripple across patent surfaces whilst Japanese knotting and quilting add depth to crackled and burnished metallic leather. In a sensual palette of glossy blacks, lusciously dark berry red, gleaming bronze and hard-as-nails graphite. This season also sees the introduction of larger totes bags and shoulder bags.

Kate & Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte – Swarovski Award

This year, sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy – the designers behind the Rodarte – have won the Swarovski Award for womens wear in this year’s CFDA awards.
I would like to say that the Swarovski awards recognize emerging design talents such as Kate & Laura Mulleavy (Rodarte), Thakoon Panichgul (Thakoon) or Alexander Wang, in comparison to the rest of the CFDA nominations. The latter seems to repeat itself: Womenswear Designer of the Year : Francisco Costa (Calvin Klein), Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCollough (Proenza Schouler) or Marc Jacobs… Great designers but enough recognition, no?

World Ocean day

creme-de-la-mer.jpg

From the 8th – 22nd June 2008, we will be celebrating World’s Oceans Day in Harrods where, from entrance to counter it will be hard to miss the celebration. There will be 400 limited edition 100ml Crème de la Mer with a unique Oceana sleeve for customers to purchase.

Dr. Max Huber, the founder of Crème de la Mer and creator of the legendary Crème de la Mer Moisturizer, looked to the sea for inspiration.  While researching the sea kelp beds off the coast of Southern California, Dr. Huber developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the ocean and worked to preserve its health and integrity. Today, in honour of his legacy, Crème de la Mer proudly announces its support for Oceana, the largest international ocean advocacy group, for World Ocean Day on June 8, 2008. This June, La Mer will donate US $100,000 to Oceana to help fund global initiatives and support Oceana’s missions of ocean conservation.

“Scientists say that we might only have until mid-century to save the oceans if we continue to overfish and destroy critical ocean habitats at the current rate,” said Andrew Sharpless, CEO of Oceana. “It’s a dismal forecast, but I really believe that we can turn the tide and bring our oceans back if enough people get active and involved. It is no coincidence that a forward-thinking company like Crème de la Mer not only understands this point, but is also doing something about it. Oceana is grateful for Crème de la Mer’s generous support and is looking forward to getting more done for the oceans as a result.”
